Foundation of Martyrs Doesn’t Recognize Baha’i Soldiers Who Died During the War

Muhiddin ZehniHRANA News Agency –Baha’i family of a soldier who died during the war at the front in Piranshahr had written a letter to the Foundation of Martyrs and called to recognize the soldier who defended the homeland as a “martyr” and create a precedent for him. The Head of Foundation of Martyrs in Miandoab in response to the soldier’s mother’s demand, had written that because “he was a member of Bahai sect” and based on the regulations, the possibility of filing does not exist for him or the same person or people, whether veterans or victims.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Muhiddin Zehni from Miandoab at the end of his military service during the war lost his life in Davoodabadi base in Piranshahr on August 19, 1986.

Despite the loss of his life in the 8-year war and that in all cases the same person who died was called a “martyr” and his descendants were supported by the Foundation of Martyrs, but no case had been created for Mr. Zehni and his survivors were not supported.

Recently the soldier’s mother had written a letter to the Foundation of Martyrs and called to recognize her son as a “martyr” but based on the document which is attached, the Head of Foundation of Martyrs in Miandoab in response to the soldier’s mother’s demand, had written that Because “he was a member of Bahai sect” and based on the regulations, the possibility of filing does not exist for him or the same person or people, whether veterans or victims.
